At the beginning of December, Mourne Digital was given the opportunity to travel to Berlin to be part of the Innovate Accelerate Europe Programme.
MOURNE digital gets through Checkpoint Charlie!
Along with businesses from Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency, Louth Local Enterprise Office and Meath Local Enterprise Office, we travelled to Berlin on 3rd December.
After a day of travelling, we arrived in Berlin at the Wilde Aparthotel, located right beside the infamous Checkpoint Charlie, ready for our first full day in Berlin.
Learning the German Culture
In the morning we travelled as a group to Aldershof, a new City of Science, Technology and Media. We spent the day learning more about German culture and how Germany differs from UK and Ireland when it comes to doing business. Opportunities were outlined for the incoming days and preparations were made for the incoming meetings on the next day.
Meeting local German businesses
On the second full day, we arrived back in Aldershof and after some conversations with the CEO of Aldershof’s City of Science, Technology and Media, we were provided with opportunity to network and meet with some local German businesses, based in the Aldershof technology park. This gave us an opportunity to put our newly found knowledge on German business into practice as well as an opportunity to get to know the other Irish businesses who travelled along with us.
Meeting The Irish Ambassador in the Berlin Embassy
After those meetings, we were given a free afternoon as this was to be our final day. We were allowed the afternoon to travel around and see a little more of Berlin and a chance to prepare to leave the next morning. After the afternoon we prepared to meet the Irish Ambassador in the Berlin Embassy.

We were very grateful for this opportunity to travel to Berlin and be part of the Innovate Accelerate Europe Program. We got to learn much about German way of business, meet like-minded businesses from Ireland and learn from the German businesses who we met in Berlin.
